Shalom from Hong, Nigeria! 3 flights and 24 hours of traveling, brought us here safely by God's grace!
We'll be ministering in Hong for the rest of this week, beginning tomorrow night. Tens of thousands are expected to attend special nightly outreach campaign, where the Gospel message will be shared. There will also be special conferences for local pastors, to help train them in proper theology and to encourage them in their difficult ministry here in Nigeria.
In addition to extreme 3rd world poverty, rampant unemployment, lack of any basic infrastructure, etc... there is also a muslim population in Nigeria that persecutes the Christians. In recent weeks, as a new Christian President was being elected, hundreds of Nigerian Christians were killed.
Let us pray that this new leader will bring change to this land that needs it so desperately.
But today, we only saw the joy of the LORD! We visited multiple towns in the area around Hong and were greeted by thousands of well wishers! Marching bands, local government officials, even a local 'King' invited us in to his offices. People stood along the dirt roads waving to us as we drove by.
In a place that has no electricity let alone something like a movie theatre or a mall, there is very little to do and very little contact with the outside world. So for them, to have people come from abroad to share God's word with them is very special! Knowing that there will be 4 days of outreach events, is also thrilling to the local believers.
Our events are being organized by a local pastor named Mike Moses who loves Israel and told all our crowds today, that praying for Israel will mean a blessing for them. Our team leader, Ron Cantor, shared with the crowds today, about Yeshua's admonition to His Jewish apostles to go and make disciples! Ron shared about the fulfilled prophecies of the nation of Israel being re-born, and now Jews are coming to faith in Yeshua and finally those Jewish believers are now going out to the nations to share the good news of the Jewish Messiah!
The people here are so desperately in need (by western standards) and yet their faith in Yeshua is so beautiful! They braved the heat and the dust and came from near and far today, just to greet us and to sing for us. It was overwhelming!
We hope these video blogs give you a taste of what God is doing here.
Please pray for us that we are able to clearly communicate the Gospel message to non-believers here. Please pray we'll be able to encourage and rightly teach the believers here. And please pray for the people of Nigeria.
Thank you for coming with us on this journey, it's only just begun!
