But little that the 'Jewish Brotherhood', aka 'Yad L'Achim' does, makes any sense to the outside world.
The half-hour investigation by Israeli Channel 1 news had first-hand stories of people saying Yad L'Achim's members stalked, kidnapped and harassed them not to mention Yad L'Achim's sanctioned involvement with the government agency known as the Israeli Interior Ministry.

People wrote to us here at Maoz from across the globe, expressing shock and outrage at the behavior of this group. So was Yad L'Achim humiliated? Were they sent reeling back to headquarters to re-group and re-brand their image? No, sadly they were emboldened.
Just days after the Channel 1 broadcast, this blogger received a report from a worker at another ministry in Tel Aviv. For years this ministry has operated a soup kitchen for the poorest of the poor in Israel's largest city. Each week they serve a hot meal to addicts and prostitutes, the elderly, the homeless and families struggling to make ends meet. During the soup kitchen, they also have a medical clinic where a nurse and sometimes a doctor mend the wounds of the fall-down drunks and those without shoes who walk the streets. They pick lice out of hair and treat infections.

According to the soup kitchen manager, a team from the health department, suddenly appeared at the soup kitchen. They said they were there for a surprise inspection of the facilities. They said they had been encouraged by Yad L'Achim to come and investigate the premises. Encouraged by Yad L'Achim? A government agency encouraged by a private organization?
The Channel 1 broadcast had caught on hidden camera, workers at the Ministry of Interior speaking unashamedly, that they leave it up to Yad L'Achim to investigate allegations that someone may or may not be in cahoots with an organization that believes in Yeshua (Jesus). Now, it appears the influence of Yad L'Achim may be spreading to other governmental bodies.
Unfortunately the soup kitchen workers had no hidden cameras, so we can only take their word for it. But would any of us be surprised if these allegations were true?
And if that weren't bad enough, the fore-mentioned nurse who does the wound cleaning and the lice picking, claims that she was actually stalked by two 'Brotherhood' members.

At the end of the soup kitchen, the nurse claims the two men followed her, when she left. Even getting on the same bus as her. She then got off the bus and entered a store, where she successfully hid, until the men gave up looking for her.
Can you imagine? A woman being stalked by two men? Followed onto a bus and into a store? Can you even comprehend what you would have done in such a situation?
'Why didn't you go to the police?' I asked her. 'What good would they do?', she replied. If Yad L'Achim has such influence with the Ministry of Interior and the Health Department, why would she think the police would be any different. A sad, if not fair conclusion.
She then looked this blogger straight in the eye and said 'you see, your videos and your television shows, did nothing.' It was hard to argue with her.

| Interior Minister/Shas Leader Eli Yishai and Prime Minister Netanyahu |
How can I continue to defend this country that I love, that I would lay my life down to defend...if the government itself crawls in bed with a malicious few and allows them to operate above the law? What am I and my fellow 90+% to do?
At the moment, I can share it with you, the faithful and ask for your prayers.
Please pray for our nation. Please pray that Prime Minister Netanyahu would have the fear of God put in him, or at least the fear of lost tourism dollars. Pray that believers in Yeshua around the world would send a loud and clear message that they demand the government of Israel protect Messianic Jews and Christians here in Israel.
Please pray that Netanyahu would cut out the Shas party and others who give power to this 'Jewish Brotherhood', from his government coalition.
Please pray for the believers here. That we would not live in fear, but would walk in the victory purchased for us by the blood of our Savior.
And please pray for this 'Brotherhood', for each soul that has aligned itself with such hate. That God would have mercy upon them, and like Paul the Apostle their eyes would be opened to see that their promised Jewish Messiah has indeed come.
We are not ignorant to the word of God that says persecution must and will come. But we are also not willing to roll over and allow the very government that we fund and fight to defend, betray us. If private citizens want to persecute, that is their choice in a free society. But for the government to endorse and empower them, can not be.
Sometimes, when I'm frustrated and confused, I try to put myself in the shoes of the one I'm frustrated with. Like Will Rogers said, you have to go around to the other person's side and see how things look from their perspective.
So, how can I look at things from the position of Yad L'Achim, from the Shas party that gives them political power and the ultra-orthodox Jews in general?
I suppose, all I have to do is to listen to their own words.
At Yad L'Achim demonstrations in Arad and Ashdod, their members said "these demonstrations are being held, to get the Messianic Jews to leave Israel". OK, not hard to read into that one.
So, we can conclude if all the Messianic Jews and I suppose the Gentile Christians as well, leave Israel then all will be well. Right?

| Religious Services Minister/Shas Member Ya’acov Margi |
"Margi is hoping to see legislation determining that non-Orthodox movements have no place on Israel’s religious map..."
"To strengthen its status, Margi called for legislation making the Chief Rabbinate the supreme rabbinical institution in Israel and the world..."
In addition, Margi called, “to determine by law that there are no streams in Judaism, only one that has been passed down to us from generation to generation.”
Margi also attacked the Reformed and Conservative movements of Judaism in his speech. You can read much more about it at this LINK.
So, Messianic Jews...gone. Gentile Christians...gone. Reformed Jews...gone. Conservative Jews...gone. Any 'non-orthodox' Jews...gone.
OK, so now we have our utopia! Just us orthodox Jews. Finally, we can leave in peace.
Oh, wait. One small problem. Only a fraction of us serve in the military and/or have jobs. Most of us just live off of welfare and spend our days studying in Yeshivas (religious schools). So, wait, what happens then? No military to protect us? No 'non-orthodox' workers hard-earned tax dollars paying our expenses?
Now what do we do?
Will Rogers was a lot nicer than me. He famously said 'I never met a man I didn't like'.
As a follower of Yeshua, I am commanded to love my neighbor as I love myself. And it's something I pray for God's strength to do. But I will never love my neighbor's sin.
This 'Jewish Brotherhood' is seeking to destroy the nation of Israel from within. And it's going to take the prayers and vigilance of all believers to stop them. I sincerely hope you'll join us.

Good article. People who love Israel should take an hour this weekend and write to Mr. Netanyahu and this guy from the Shas party and express our profound disappointment. I for one will wait to make a trip to Israel until they start treating Messianics better. Tourist money is important to Israel. I won't spend mine there until things change for the better.
ReplyDeleteHere it is, 6 days later, and I am posting the 2nd comment on such a thoughtful blog as this. It is hard to believe the level of disinterest. I am an American Jew who loves King Messiah and cannot even immigrate to the land of my fathers who I love because Israel does not want me. Israel will not even consider me a Jew anymore because I love Son of David. I come from Jews on both sides of my parents, who also hate our King, and I am left to wonder what will happen to a community of believers who add so much savor to such much spoiled salt as make up the majority of the sickened society that constitute the nation state of Israel today. Israel does not want the believers in their King. Doesn't that simply floor you? How do you not get demoralized by such a circumstance? Evidently, His Majesty is about to shake the Jews to their core. Who will survive this?
